Description:  A 130 metre high dam with a spillway on the left bank, power intake on the right bank, a single power tunnel leading to a surge chamber, two penstocks, five vertical Francis turbine and generator sets and a surface powerhouse with associated high voltage switchyard for power evacuation.
Contractual Amount:  USD 1.914 billion
Duration of Works:  72 months
Dam Type:  A 130 metre high Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD)
Contract Type:  BOOT model, 30 years operation period .
Owner:  SPV SINOZAM Power Corporation
Financier:  SINOZAM is owned by Sinohydro (50%), ZESCO Limited (30%) and China Africa Development Fund (CAD Fund) (20%).
