After four years of construction, SINOHYDRO’s Bui Hydropower Project in Ghana finally started impounding on June 8, 2011.

With installed capacity of 400 MW and contract value of USD 600 million, Bui will be the second-largest hydropower station in Ghana upon completion. Its magnificent scale and significance drew many high-level officials and managers to this impounding ceremony. At 13:30, the President’s advisor pressed the button to close the gate, marking the official start of impounding.

SINOHYDRO, the general contractor of the Bui Project, not only delivered good performance during the construction process but also actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibility. Its contribution to local economic and social development has won high praise and applause from local authorities and communities.
