On Dec. 7, 2011, the Kamchay Hydropower Project ceremony in Cambodia was held on site to inaugurate the start of power generation. Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen, accompanied by the local government officials, attended the ceremony. In addition, China’s ambassador to Cambodia, SINOHYDRO officials, the project’s staff, and hundreds of local residents attended the big event.

The ceremony was held to celebrate the successful power generation of the main power house (PH1) of Kamchay Station, greatly diminishing power shortages as well as improving the living standards of the surrounding area. The Kamchay Hydropower Project is SINOHYDRO’s first overseas BOT Hydropower Project. With a great awareness of the benefits to local citizens, SINOHYDRO has implemented the project with a specific focus on enterprise responsibility, taking care of both social and environment effects. During the power generation ceremony, four Medals of Honor were awarded to SINOHYDRO project executives by Prime Minister Hun Sen for the company’s enormous contribution to local development.
