Sinohydro Corporation has launched the study of roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam technique in early 1980s. the first RCC dam in China was the maindam of kengkou Hydropower Station completed in 1986. Up to now, there are about 50 RCC dams completed or underconstruction, which come up to perfectness in both engineering quality and construction technique.
Concreted – face rockfill dam (CFRD)
Modern faceslab dam is characterized with roller cpmpacted rock-in and concreted slab placed with slipform. Since 1986, over 40 dams of this type have been completed by Sinohydro. Given the perfect technique and quality, it is a common practice in China that the priority is given to this type of dam in the period of dam type comparison.
